Bidding is open! Support the Cape May Music Festival by joining the online fundraising auction at biddingforgood.com. On May 28, the 23rd Season of the Cape May Music Festival begins two weeks of “sweet sounds by the sea.” Presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) and PNC Bank, the festival runs to June 14, offering a “feast for every musical taste,” from old favorites to new works, and fun extras like “Bach’s Lunches” at the Carriage House Tearoom. The festival will also feature a June 3 tribute to George Mesterhazy, Cape May’s favorite jazz pianist, who passed away suddenly in April. Venues all over town are involved, with free events at Rotary Bandstand, intimate performances at local churches, and larger shows at Convention Hall. Only 5% of the budget is covered by ticket income.
Support the festival and treat yourself to something special by participating in MAC’s online auction.
Online auctions make it easy to buy great items in support of a great cause. You can sit at your desk on your lunch hour, or at the kitchen counter with a glass of wine, and plan your bidding strategy. Consider how much a private channeling session with Craig McManus is worth to you, or a signed New Jersey Devils hockey puck. How charming would that Royal Doulton figurine look on your fireplace? Measure for your area rug from Avalon Tile or artwork from Gallery D’May.
With an online auction, you have the leisure to write your guest list for the Gourmet Dinner at the 2010 Show House, the Fried Chicken Lover’s Delight at the Chalfonte, or Girls’ Night Out from Cotton Company or Lace Silhouettes — with VIP gift bags. Plan a romantic getaway and place your bid on the Fairthorne Inn package. How about a weekend at the Beachcomber Campground, or the Bedford Inn? Or consider the message you’d send on your Aerial Greeting Card from Paramount Air Service.
Check the website often for new items, and to see how your bids are holding up. The auction closes on May 28, just as the music festival gets started. For information on festival tickets, call 609-884-5404 or visit the MAC website at capemaymac.org.
