While Cape May’s peppy periodical is on a corona-induced hiatus, we are offering classic issues from the Exit Zero archives. It’s always fascinating to look at photographs around town from years ago, as well as ads from businesses that are no longer with us. This week are going alllll the way back to August 27, 2004. First of all, there’s the gorgeous color cover by Mike DeMusz, which features local couple Jim and Christina Walls re-enacting the classic beach kiss from Here to Eternity. And doing a great job! There’s also an interview with John Schatz, then chef at Peter Shields Inn. He now helms Union Park. There’s former police chief Diane Sorantino answering 20 Questions and copping a cute Charlie’s Angels pose. There are photos from the Boiler Room and Cabanas. And, in the real estate section, it wasn’t exactly bargain time, even back then. A cottage in the Point was $975,000. Enjoy! We will have Exit Zero weekly back with you as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime, stay safe.
