Why Should I Go? Although he doesn’t know where it came from exactly, owner Dave Clemans earned the nickname Dr Danger when he was a younger, “more formidable” man. We think Dave is still very much a formidable man, and what’s more, so is the menu at Cucina Rosa. It’s always a good sign for a restaurant when the owner has his hands in the kitchen, too — David still does some prep work to help out head chef Guy Portewig, and still makes the restaurant’s irresistible sauces.
So why is Cucina Rosa still one of the most popular restaurants in town after three decades? “Because we serve the kind of food people want to eat,” says Dave. While other restaurants strive to reeducate people and their palettes, the goal at Cucina Rosa is to give folks what makes them happy.
But customers don’t simply crave consistently good food. They want their entire dining experience to be memorable. This is not a problem at Cucina Rosa, where the charming atmosphere “brings out the best in people,” says Dave.
Insider Tip: To Dave, the word cucina doesn’t just mean kitchen; it embodies all of the joyful moments that happen when we break bread with good company. At Cucina Rosa, this bread-breaking can happen inside the two-story restaurant’s main dining areas, on an outdoor patio, or in a private dining room ideal for special occasions. Dr Danger’s most formidable staff will be happy to fill you in on the details.
